Drywall and Gypsum Panel: Which One Goes in Each Wall
The entire criterion for choosing a gypsum panel fits in one question: how much water will that wall see?

Three conditions, three panels
Dry interior: Light Rey, a lightweight gypsum panel with a non-combustible core and 100 % recycled paper wrapping the bevelled edges. Wet areas: Perma Base, with a lightweight cement core between two layers of fiberglass mesh, capable of withstanding moisture. Exterior: Glass Rey, with a core treated against water absorption and a fiberglass coating resistant to mould growth.
The mistakes that cost dearly
Putting interior board behind a shower; using ordinary board as a tile substrate in wet areas; leaving exterior board exposed beyond what the manufacturer guarantees; and not reinforcing the joints, which is where cracks appear first.
What you need besides the panel
Metal or timber framing, screws suited to the thickness, reinforcing tape and joint compound. Niasaready compound is applied by hand or with mechanical equipment straight from the pack, sands well and does not crack at thicknesses under 3/8 of an inch.
When drywall construction makes sense
When you need speed, low weight on the structure, free routing for services or the ability to change the layout later. In retail remodelling and office fit-outs it is usually the most efficient option.
