Exterior finishing is usually where the budget runs away, because the traditional sequence calls for rendering first and texturing afterwards. Stucco-type mortars change that order: they are formulated to be applied directly over block, brick or concrete with no prior render, with the colour already integrated into the mix.
We carry Econotex / Recubritech in both grain sizes. The Fine is a high-porosity stucco-type texturing mortar with controlled fine grading and integral colour. The Coarse works the same way but with coarse grading, and allows a wide variety of rustic finishes. Both save a full layer of work without giving up appearance.
What this line includes
No prior render
Applied directly over block, brick and concrete. A full layer of labour and material is eliminated.
Integral colour
The pigment is in the mix, so the finish does not depend on a coat of paint that will later need renewing.
Fine or coarse grading
The Fine gives a tight, even texture; the Coarse allows a wide variety of rustic finishes.
High porosity
The coating lets the wall breathe, which helps keep moisture from being trapped behind the finish.

Questions about mortars and stuccos
That is how they are formulated: applied directly over block, brick or concrete. What they do require is a clean, sound surface with no loose material, because stucco bonds to whatever it finds.
The pigment is integral to the mix, not superficial, so wear is far slower than with paint. Even so the colour evolves with exposure, like every exterior finish.
Fine for a tight, even texture, typical of contemporary facades. Coarse when a rustic finish is wanted or an irregular surface needs disguising.
It depends on the state of the paint. If it is sound and well bonded it can be prepared; if it is flaking or chalky it must be removed, because the stucco would bond to a layer that is already letting go.
